Face masks
(or masques) are usually a forgotten beauty tool. Once you get into a bit of a
routine with them, you’ll discover just how beneficial they can be, and you may
even begin to find them relaxing. There’s something about having a face mask on
that makes me want to just sit and read a magazine.
The key to
finding the face mask that will most benefit you is figuring out your
skin”type”. It is oily? dry? dehydrated? uneven? do you have dark spots? large
pores? etc. Acne and oily are the common skin types among teenagers. Teens
shouldn’t be stressing about it because it is completely normal to have acne at
this point of our lives as our body is producing hormones known as androgens
that contributes to acne. You can find a very specific face mask to target these
problems, or grab a more general one to cover a few bases like a hydrating mask
which is vital for every skin type.
Try adding a face mask into your beauty routine once a month. Build up to twice a month if you find you love doing them. I would suggest that teenagers opt for natural or organic ingredients in our skin care routine as I mentioned in a previous post, chemical properties in some products can be damaging to our sensitive skin. Today, I am going to share a recipe on making a homemade face mask using simple ingredients. Plus, making your own facial mask is fun and it is even good enough to eat.

Ingredients:
· 1 tablespoon oatmeal oats
· 1 tablespoon raw honey ( I use Manuka honey because it is good for clearing the skin and to retain moisture)
*Optional : 1
teaspoon of water ( to use if the consistency is too thick)
Directions:
1.
Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl with
a spoon.
2.
Apply the face to your face using your hands
or a brush.
3.
Let the mask set for 15-20 minutes and rinse.
Your
skin will feel smoother, cleaner and softer. There you go, simple ingredients
to get and simple to do. Soon, your skin will be looking healthier and cleaner.
